
PinchukArtCentre presents the lecture of the Japanese art critic and curator Akiko Miki, who will talk about the last ten years’ development in Japanese contemporary art and the impact of Takashi Murakami’s works on the new generation of artists. Selected videos by Takashi Murakami and young Japanese artists will be represented during the presentation – including a.o Koki Tanaka, Zon Ito and Ryoko Aoki, Hiraki Sawa, Meiwa Denki and Aya Takano.
The lecture will be hosted in the framework of the exhibition REFLECTION, on the 15th of November, 2007, at 19:30 in the video lounge on the 6th floor of the PinchukArtCentre. The admission is free. The lecture will be held in English with Ukrainian translation.
Akiko Miki is currently a Chief curator at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris and Associate curator at the Mori Museum in Tokyo. She had organized several important exhibitions in Asia, Europe and USA. She collaborated on different books and catalogs about Japanese art and culture. In 2006 she was a co-curator of an important exhibition on the world famous Japanese photographer Araki at the Barbican Art Gallery in London.
The exhibition REFLECTION featuring works of the leading international and Ukrainian artists of the 21st century is open to visit until 30 December, 2007. A series of lectures, documentary shows and other events will be held in the framework of the exhibition.
