PinchukArtCentre presents the lecture and screening about the City and the modernism architecture in Louidgi Beltrame and Sarah Morris works. The French artist Louidgi Beltrame talks about his various films and drawing project around “icons” cities such as Brasilia and Chandigarh. Between fiction and reality, memory and utopia, Louidgi Beltrame proposes a script about urbanism, architecture and the landscape in the heart of the modernity.
Since the mid-1990s, Sarah Morris has been making complex abstract paintings and films. These works, based on different cities, are derived from close inspection of architectural details combined with a critical sensitivity to the psychology of a city and its key protagonists. During the evening the PinchukArtCentre presents three major films by Sarah Morris: Los Angeles, Miami and Capital.
The lecture will be hosted in the framework of the exhibition REFLECTION, on Thursday the 22nd of November, 2007, at 19:30 in the video lounge on the 6th floor of the PinchukArtCentre. The admission is free. The lecture will be held in French with Ukrainian translation.
Louidgi Beltrame was born in 1971 in Marseille in France. He lives and works in Paris.
Sarah Morris was born in 1967 in the UK and grew up in Providence, Rhode Island, USA.
The exhibition REFLECTION featuring works of the leading international and Ukrainian artists of the 21st century is open to visit until 30 December, 2007. A series of lectures, documentary shows and other events will be held in the framework of the exhibition.
