June 7 official opening of the Ukrainian pavilion at the Venice biennale

Official opening ceremony of the Ukrainian Pavilion at the 52nd Venice Biennale is to be held today in Venice. PinchukArtCentre is representing Ukraine at the Exhibition this year.

The ceremony is to start at 5 p.m. local time in Palazzo Papadopoli (San Polo 1364), hosting the Ukrainian pavilion. The following persons are more likely to attend the ceremony: the commissar of the Ukrainian pavilion, Peter Doroshenko, vice-prime minister of Ukraine for Humanitarian Affairs, Dmytro Tabachnyk, representatives of Culture and Tourism Ministry of Ukraine, the founder of PinchukArtCentre (Kyiv), Viktor Pinchuk, curators of the Ukrainian pavilion, Alexander Soloviyov and Viktor Sydorenko and also authors of the work displayed at the exhibition.

Ukrainian pavilion titled "A poem about an Inland Sea" will showcase the work of eight artists for Ukraine, Germany, UK, and USA – Serhiy Bratkov, Alexander Hnylytskiy and Lesya Zayets, Borys Mikhailov, Juergen Teller, Mark Tichner, Sam Taylor-Wood and Dzine. All of them have produced work for the exhibition that offers a strong visual commentary on the modern Ukraine.

Late in the evening, at 10:30 p.m. local time, Palazzo Papadopoli will host a free party on the occasion of the Ukrainian pavilion's opening. The pavilion will be open for visitors from June 10 to November 21 during all days except Monday, from 10 a.m. till 6 p.m.
